Beginners Guide on how to Authenticate your Christian Louboutin Shoes
For this post, I’m going to focus solely (get it?!) on Christian Louboutin. As some of you ladies may know, although I’m sure none of you will be surprised, I’ve spent a lot of time worshipping at the altar of Christian Louboutin, so forgive me as I step into my super nerd shoes for this post. (Black patent Pigalle’s for added professionalism 😉)
Now my darlings, I could write a whole blog on each point I’m about to make but instead, I’m going to keep things simple for you.
The demand for authentic designer bags and shoes is through the roof, but the more demand there is, the more unreputable scoundrels want to cash in on the trend with counterfeit products.
Everyone is looking for a bargain and these unscrupulous *pardon my French* as**les are willing to take your hard-earned money and palm you off with poor imitations. You don’t deserve it.
What if I was to tell you there is another way – it is possible to bag a bargain…up to 70% off retail value for genuine designer products and authentic luxury resale. You can buy from High Heel Hierarchy of course.
If you will buy from eBay or god forbid, a social media marketplace, at least promise me this:
Do your research. Ask questions. Ask for lots of pictures. Check the brand spelling and look at the lining, hardware and stitching.
So how do you really spot genuine designer resale shoes from cheap, or worse, not so cheap knock-offs?
You just need to know what to look for.
Here are 5 things to check before purchasing preloved Christian Louboutin.
- Box and bits
Of course, I’ve seen replica shoes in perfectly legit boxes and purchased some of my favourite pieces without boxes or dust covers at all, but as a rule, if you’re offered a pair with all the trimmings, here is what you should be looking at:
Inside the box should be a vibrant red dust bag, made of luxurious, soft cotton. There should be no loose threads or cheap stitching. A smaller bag in the same material will contain the heel taps. Louboutin heel taps never come in a plastic bag.
Genuine CL boxes are sturdy and have a crisp, clear logo on them. They should have a white sticker on the side disclosing the size, style and colour.
Christian Louboutin does NOT make authenticity cards. If you see one of these, immediately put your money away.
- Structure
Look at the overall shape of the shoe. Even novices will recognise that dramatic arch a mile away. Fakes are often bulky and lack the sleek silhouette that those red soles are so very famous for. Look out for bulges, check the shoes from every angle.
The lines should flow smoothly and where the leather joins should be symmetrical and smooth on each shoe. Sometimes you can spot a fake by whether the join lines up with the heel. Off-centre joins are ugly and CL would not stand for that!
Which brings us to…
- Quality
CL has impeccable standards. Stitching should be completely even and straight, with no bubbling or loose thread. The edges, linings, welts and insoles should be faultless.
Louboutin is famous for his stunning feminine designs – no blemish, bump or dropped stitch is tolerated by his quality control.
- Logo
Louboutin’s are pure perfection, crafted to a very high standard.
The gold logo on the insole should be defined and clear. There should be no overlapping of letters, and the font should not be thick.
The logos on the soles do differ slightly. Some even have ‘Vero Cuoio’ instead of Real Leather stamped on them. Many people worry that this is a sign of counterfeit but it’s not necessarily true, it simply means ‘Real Leather’ in Italiano and is a sign of a slightly older style.
- Soles & insole
These deserve a separate blog on them as there is a lot to look out for.
You may be surprised to learn that that famous shade of the red does vary depending on when the shoes were made.
The edges of the soles should have a nice curve to them (apart from the Espadrilles, which have flat soles) They are made of leather and should be shiny and smooth. Fakes sometimes feel rougher or stickier to the touch, although this may not be something you’d notice unless you had a genuine pair to check against. Weird chemical-like smells are also a dead giveaway that you’re holding a fake product.
I have a lot of experience and can literally feel the difference between genuine heels and fakes. Let’s call it my party trick!
The best way to ensure Genuine Luxury Christian Louboutin Resale.
Louboutin’s are the essence of perfection. It’s why they are so sought after and such a status symbol. Christian simply would never let a pair leave if they weren’t immaculate and utterly impeccable.
Honestly, these giveaways are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to those crafty counterfeiters. And they’re getting bolder.
So, stay vigilant, don’t get ripped off and stay classy.
