REAL VS FAKE 2 – A guidance on what the red bottoms should look like
Christian Louboutin’s red sole is undoubtedly his signature, which can also be the easiest way to spot a replica. Having said that, you cannot tell whether a Louboutin is authentic or not just by looking at the colour of the shoes.
First, because the look of the red soles has changed over the years. Second, because Louboutin shoes are hand made and manufactured in different factories. Therefore, the colour can be orangy red, deep red and anything in between.
However, all Louboutin shoes have red soles that are made of leather and not plastic and should look glossy. Most replicas will have a plastic or low gloss finish, which will not be as smooth and slick to walk in.
The edges of the soles should be beautifully curved and not flat. Exception to these are the espadrilles as those are designed to have flat soles.
1)The loop of the L must almost touch the rest of the L, and have no space between, which you will find with many replicas.
2) Vero Cuoio means real leather. The absence or presence of Vero Cuoio does not determine authenticity at all, because older models do have this stamp. Nowdays however, most of the newer models do not have this stamp, this caused people to think that all authentic Louboutins must NOT have Vero Cuoio stamped on the bottom.
Vero Cuoio stamp can vary in font, depth and outline.
NOTE: just because the red soles are marked with the Vero Cuoio stamp, doesn’t mean it is leather.
3) Made in Italy should be engraved in capital letters and should not be written as one word ‘MADEINITALY’.
All of the pictures below are of authentic Louboutins. Each has different stamping and colour, yet each one is from an authentic shoe.
When it comes to sizing, the sole stamp should be in European sizing, and half sizes will be displayed as ½ rather than .5.
SELLER – THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
If you buy your shoes on an auction website, take extra care to make sure the seller is trustworthy. Check their seller rating and read their reviews. Also, you want to see several detailed images from different angles to ensure the shoes you are buying are legitimate.
