Saving the World…one pair of heels at a time!
The secret is out, as the fight against the tide of fast fashion continues, a brand-new UK poll has revealed that 1 in 3 Generation Z-ers now buy pre-loved and vintage items. Word on the street is that second-hand fashion is set to become a bigger market than luxury by 2022.
Thanks to TV shows like Stacey Dooley’s Fashion’s Dirty Secrets and the documentary True Cost, we’re seeing a shift away from mass-produced catwalk copies, towards more thoughtful, lasting fashion.
Research shows 73% of the world’s clothes end up in landfill once they are no longer needed, creating 53 million tonnes of waste every year. The fashion industry has notoriously low recycling rates at less than one percent.
But all is not lost.
London Fashion Week went wild for sustainability this year. At Vivienne Westwood’s show, the model lineup was almost entirely made up of activists and even the Director of Greenpeace UK walked the catwalk.
While this might seem a strange collaboration, coming from an industry that’s primary focus is on persuading people to buy something they want rather than need – fashion is making a whole lot of noise about sustainability, the environment, and climate change right now. Finally.
Many companies are upping their game when it comes to their processes and production. How we dress strongly influences how we feel about ourselves, so, it makes sense that our wardrobes are influenced by how we feel about the world. The industry is waking up to this. It also may be, in part, because trends such as “Buy nothing new for 3 months” and charity shop challenges are going global on social media.
So, with conscious consumerism here to stay, how can you do your bit for the planet and still get your designer fix?
Well, High Heel Hierarchy of course!
It’s time to get your shopping savvy on ladies.
The world is finally waking up to something HHH hotties have known since forever. Pre-loved is better for your purse AND your principles.
After all, as I always say – “Trends come and go, but those red soles are forever.”
Along with being luxury lifestyle trailblazers here at HHH HQ, we give you the opportunity to give our gorgeous shoes and handbags a second chance. The real feelgood factor is that you’ll be giving those poor, lonely pre-loved shoes and handbags a new lease of life for an incredible price.
Another fact of life, my darlings, is that if you find your heart broken into a million pieces because your dream style isn’t available in your size, or, *shudder* worse still, discontinued, they can often still be found on the second hand market by yours truly. Honestly, I am a miracle worker.
As Vivienne Westwood attains to, the motto should always be:
Buy less. Choose well. Make it last.
But what if you are ready to take control of your fashion choices but you don’t know where to start?
I’m always looking for those designer boxes in the back of your wardrobe; perhaps bought on a whim and unworn since, or well-loved but simply not your style anymore.
If you have designer shoes or handbags that you’re thinking of parting ways with let me know.
You can find plenty of ways to contact me here.
Take a look in your closet and be honest with me. How quickly did you spot something you don’t wear anymore? By getting in touch with me you’ll be taking control of your fashion choices and, if you’re anything like me, using the cold hard cash you’ll get for those unloved items to fund your next (environmentally friendly) shopping spree!
There’s no real downside to this fashion phenomenon. It’s here to stay.
Better still, HHH offers returns if you change your mind (we’ve all been there darlings, late at night, too many martini’s, of course they’ll fit…one more click. Whoops…all the shoes fall into your basket!) That’s why we operate a simple 14-day return policy.
At least that’s one less thing for your conscience to worry about…or is that just me 😉 What are you waiting for? It’s time to get shopping! https://www.highheelhierarchy.com
